Albert Wainwright
Painter and illustrator, born in Castleford, Yorkshire, where like his fellow pupil Henry Moore, he attended Leeds College of Art, 1914-17, before joining the Royal Flying Corps during World War I until 1919.
During the World War II, he painted murals in army camp canteens and helped with theatrical entertainment. In 1943 he was appointed art master at Bridlington School, a post terminated by his early death. In 1986 a retrospective exhibition was held at Michael Parkin Gallery, London.
