After Turner - Late 19th Century Mezzotint, Little Devil's Bridge

About Our Frames

An atmospheric mezzotint after the original mezzotint by Joseph Mallord Turner. This late 19th Century copy is in rich sepia tones, showing a perilous canyon in the Swiss mountain region of Aldorf, with the infamous "Little Devil's Bridge" stretching across. There is an inscription at the lower left with the location. It has been initialed in plate at the lower left "S. K. D. B." (South Kensington drawing book). On wove.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The original plate lines are intact. There is a line of heavy dirtying at the upper left edge.

12 x 18.6cm (4.7" x 7.3")
Sheet: 24.4 x 32.6cm (9.6" x 12.8")
