After Richard Westall - 19th Century Aquatint The Reaper (The Harvest Moon)

Description

A large aquatint print after a pen and watercolour drawing by Richard Westall (1785-1836), which is held by the National Gallery of Art in Washington. The work depicts a Romantic scene with a lone harvester, a sickle in his hand, standing in an expansive landscape accompanied by his dog. The print is beautifully presented in a vintage gilt frame adorned with sheaves of wheat and scythes on either side to complement the scene, and the crest of the Duke of Portland at the top. Unsigned. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing to the paper. Marks, scuffs and small losses to the frame. Overall the condition is good.
