A fine etched version of Constable's original painting. There are noticeable differences in this etched version, including the boat being at the top of the lock as opposed to the bottom, like in Constable's painting. The scene shows a boat moving through a rural canal lock. The artist has signed illegibly in graphite to the lower right and there is a remarque of canal boats and figures at the lower left, showing this to be an early strike from the original plate. Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some light creasing around the outer edges of the plate lines. There is a repaired tear to the upper right.
