A finely detailed stipple engraving by Thomas Cheesman (1760-1834) after a painting by George Romney (1907-1995). The sitter is a Miss Vernon, although there is some dispute as to whether this refers to Caroline Vernon, daughter of Richard Vernon of Hilton Park, or Lucy Vernon, third daughter of Henry Vernon of Hilton Park. The print is well presented in a distressed gilt frame. Unsigned. On paper.
Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Discolouration and foxing to the paper. The edge of the paper is slightly visible on the right-hand side. Scuffs and small losses to the frame, in keeping with its deliberately distressed finish.
