Description

A copy of Charles Robert Leslie's Uncle Toby and Widow Wadman. This study depicts a scene from Laurence Sterne's The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy. The original is currently housed in Shandy Hall, North Yorkshire. Presented in a gilt effect frame. Indistinctly inscribed to the reverse. Indistinctly signed to the lower left corner. On canvas on stretchers .

Condition

The painting is in need of full restoration. There is a large tear to the canvas and extensive paint loss. There are several surface marks to the canvas. Some small losses and dents to the gilt effect frame.
