After Benjamin Marshall (1767-1835) - 1929 Aquatint Tom Oldaker, Berkeley Hunt
Description
A fine print with an unusual mix of aquatint, etching and hand colouring. The aquatint background has a softer feel than the hard edged images of the hounds, horse and rider. There is an inscription at the bottom with the title, including the name of the hounds and horse. Beneath this is the name of the publisher and address of where it was printed. The sculptor has signed indistinctly to the lower right edge in pencil and the original artist has been inscribed within the plate to the lower left corner. There is a blind stamp beneath this.
The painting is well presented in a fine Hogarth frame, glazed with a wash line mount.
On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame has several areas of restoration at the edges and one at the inner window. There is some discoloration to the mount and a watermark at the top edge. There is a very small amount of debris trapped behind the glazing.
