Description

Saint John the Baptist stands in a rocky landscape, referencing the wilderness where he lived as a young man. He embraces a lamb, symbolizing Christ's sacrifice, while pointing toward heaven. According to the Gospel, when Saint John met Christ he declared: "Behold, the Lamb of God." These words are inscribed in Latin on a ribbon wound around a reed cross, a symbolic object associated with him. Well presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame. Unsigned. On paper.
