Description

A chromolithograph depicting the action, formations, and participants in the Battle of Talana Hill, also known as the Battle of Glencoe and Battle of Dundee, in 1899. It was the first major clash of the Second Boer War. A frontal attack by British infantry supported by artillery drove Boers from a hilltop position, but the British suffered heavy casualties in the process, including their commanding general Sir William Penn Symons. Presented glazed in a burr wood frame with a silver gilt slip. Inscribed with information regarding the battle and numbered captions to the lower edge. On wove.

Condition

There is some minor foxing and discolouration and some small marks to the frame and slip. Overall well-presented and in good condition.
