Description

A very fine 1875 graphite drawing by the artist Ada Robertson, depicting a foot study in the Classical manner. The artist had a very high proficiency in the medium, achieving an outstanding sense of realism. The work is from a student examination at the South Kensington School, now the Royal College of Art. This is indicated by a stamp to the lower left corner, marked 'E.S.K.' With a label to the lower left reading 'Motto: Hope on, Hope ever, Student Reg. No. 190'. Signed to the reverse and dated 'December 2nd 1875'. Signed, inscribed and dated on the reverse. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, surface scuffing and foxing. Some small creases and pin holes to the corners.
