A beautiful and impressively sized oil still life in the manner of the Dutch/German painter Abraham Mignon (1640–1679). The still life has been executed with wonderful precision and excellent replication of the traditional Dutch still life style. The themes of violence and abundance are clear in this bountiful arrangement of grapes, plums, peaches and other delicacies. There seems to be an Autumnal element to the cornucopia, with gourds, blackberries and horse chestnuts being among the display.
The artist has signed and inscribed at the revere and the painting has been handsomely framed in a substantial and impressive contemporary gilt frame with naive botanical strapwork that adds even more opulence to the painting.
