Description

A pair of fine engravings depicting Christoph Schwartz (1550-1594), a German court painter, and Johann Justin Preisler (1698-1754), a German painter and draughtsman. Both engravings have been hand coloured at a later date, and laid to blue wove with a decoupage border and inscription. A very similar print of Schwartz can be found in the collection at Lindisfarne Castle, as well as in the British Museum. There is also a similar engraving of Preisler in the collections of the National Galleries Scotland.

Unsigned and inscribed. On wove.

Condition

The condition is very good for pictures of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. There is some age toning around the edges, and small tears and scuffing to the corners.
