This is a very finely executed study of a Lady reading in an interior, with a miniature of her lover pinned to her chest. Her loyal spaniel sits by her feet. The painting is titled 'Study' to the lower margin and is laid to support card with washline detail. Some of the stronger black lines, for instance on her sleeve, may have been added at a later date.
