A group of five finely detailed and evocative late 19th Century Japanese woodblock prints, depicting a variety of indoor and outdoor scenes, including ladies in both traditional and Western dress under cherry blossom, figures in the street in elaborate kimono, a gentleman playing a board game, and a rainy harbour scene. Four of the pages have substantial inscriptions in Japanese, with other smaller boxed inscriptions. All pages are similarly sized, on handmade laid paper. Unsigned and inscribed.
Condition
The condition of the pages is typical for pictures of this age, with some even surface discolouration, and scuffing to the corners and edges. Two pages are in very good condition, and the other three have some losses to the left and lower edges, including small creases and pin holes. The page depicting cherry blossom has some small tear to the lower edge, the largest measuring 2cm.
