A crisp and impressive 20th C miniature profile portrait of the mid Renaissance Duchess of Milan, Beatrix Este, after the original painting by Giovanni Ambrogio de Predis (1455-1508) (a student of Leonardo Da Vinci). The painting is highly accomplished with delicate skin tones and crisp detailing on the jewels and ribbons of her headdress and clothes. The artist has signedHil to the lower left side.
The painting is on a bone like material and is well presented in a black oval frame with a decorative brass inner window.
