A truly wonderful 19th century watercolour depicting a dramatic and expansive mountain view. The Scottish scenery has been captured in a palette of dramatic blues and violets. Three tiny figures are dwarfed by the distant mountains, whilst a small herd of cattle bathes in the river to the lower right. This dramatic and evocative composition was likely painted en plein air. Unsigned. On watercolour paper.

Some marks and minor discolouration to the paper. Light foxing to the paper. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
