19th Century Watercolour - A View of Rhine River

Description

A fine 19th century watercolour with gouache details, depicting a view a Rhine river, one of the major European rivers, which has its sources in Switzerland and flows in a mostly northerly direction through Germany and the Netherlands, emptying into the North Sea. The inscription to the lower right-hand corner reads: 'The Lurliberg, Rhine'. Unsigned. Well-presented in a white card mount and in a thin, distressed, gilt effect frame. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including discolouration and very light foxing to the sky area. Minor marks to the mount and small scuffs to the frame.
