Description
Set within a humble interior, this beautifully executed nineteenth-century genre scene depicts a woman seated at a loom while another works at a spinning wheel. The artist has masterfully captured the atmospheric quality of the room, with soft daylight filtering through a small window to illuminate the otherwise dimly lit interior. The painting is well presented in an ornate gilt frame. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age, including discolouration, craquelure, and areas of bitumen deterioration. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting. Light wear to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.
