Description

An eye-catching portrait of a smartly dressed gentleman in a white and pink uniform. An inscription on the reverse of the stretchers identifies the sitter as Friedrich Josef Feflix Frhr. von Tunkl-Hohenstadt (1827-1891). The Tunkl von Hohenstadt und Aschbrunn family were a Bohemian noble family. "Frhr," the abbreviation of "Freiherr," is a title used in German-speaking countries equivalent to the rank of baron. Well presented in a black frame. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration and craquelure. Some small areas of paint loss and overpainting. marks and scuffs to the frame.
