An eye-catching portrait of a smartly dressed gentleman in a white and pink uniform. An inscription on the reverse of the stretchers identifies the sitter as Friedrich Josef Feflix Frhr. von Tunkl-Hohenstadt (1827-1891). The Tunkl von Hohenstadt und Aschbrunn family were a Bohemian noble family. "Frhr," the abbreviation of "Freiherr," is a title used in German-speaking countries equivalent to the rank of baron.
