Description

A solitary fisherman casts his line into a placid river in this idyllic nineteenth-century tondo. A Turner-esque sunset illuminates the sky in hues of fiery red, orange, and yellow. The work is well presented in an ornate gilt frame. Unsigned. On canvas.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age, including discolouration and craquelure. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting. Scuffs, stable cracking, and small losses to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.
