A fine Victorian portrait of a well dressed, portly gentleman. Hi rosy complexion, full face and crisp clothes show him to be a man of stature. The painting is unsigned and handsomely presented in a very fine 19th Century gilt frame, boasting swept corners with laurel and berry running molding, ornate corners and Greek key and beaded strap work. The frame is finished with a gilt slip. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some grey bloom to the lower half of the painting and some spotting in the upper right quadrant. The frame has natural age cracks and some tarnishing. Inspection under UV light reveals some areas of restoration.
