Description
A traditional and vibrant Japanese gouache painting on pith paper showing a seemingly emotional interaction between two male figures, one a young man in casual clothes and the other an older male in traditional robes with his hair styled in the traditional chonmage. The colours have maintained their vibrancy well. The picture is presented under a pane of glass on a board back adhered with a border of red paper. Unsigned. On Pith.Condition
There is some discolouration to the pith paper and slight foxing to the left hand side as well as a tear on the lower left corner and the middle of the left hand edge. The red paper that holds the glass and board together is peeling and there is a loss at the top left edge.
