This charming etching depicts Milton's Cottage in Chalfont Saint Giles. Poet John Milton moved to the village 1665, bringing his wife and daughters out of London to escape the bubonic plague. Although he only lived in the cottage for two years, Milton wrote some his most renowned work whilst residing here, including Paradise Lost. Signed and titled below the plate line. On wove.
