A wonderful 19th century watercolour depicting a rural scene with cattle wandering down a country lane and a quaint ivy covered cottage at the right hand side. Delicately executed, the artist has used washes of watercolours to build up tone and detail, resulting in a hazy and soft atmosphere. A wonderful example of English landscape art. Painted on wove laid to thick card. Unsigned.
Condition
Areas of minor discolouration and thinning paint. Losses of paint to the outer edges, caused by a previous mount or frame. Areas of very minor foxing. Overall the condition is good for a painting of this age.
