This enchanting 18th-century portrait captures a young dancer twirling gracefully in a forest, her flowing cape trailing behind her. She wears a full, flower-adorned gown and a delicate crown of roses, rendered with delicate brushwork that imbues the scene with romance and whimsy. Unsigned. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Light discolouration to the varnish. Fine craquelure throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals small areas of restoration. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age. Some wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentations.
