Description

An accomplished late 19th-century student study of an acanthus ornament, executed with careful attention to form and shading. An ESK blind stamp to the lower left indicates that this was an examined student piece from the South Kensington School of Design. Although unsigned, a label to the lower right identifies the pupil as "Hayes", aged 16. Well presented in a decorative gilt frame. On paper.

Condition

There is some discolouration and light foxing to the paper, together with discolouration to the mount. Light debris is visible beneath the glazing. The frame shows general age-related wear, including scuffs, chips, and minor indentations. Overall, the artwork remains in very good condition for its age.
