William Say (1768-1834) - Original 1826 Mezzotint. Cut at plate line at lower edge. After the painting by Raphael. Published 1826 by R. Ackermann, Strand, London. From the collection of Christopher Lennox-Boyd. Signed in plate. Some minor surface abrasions, otherwise in excellent condition for a work of this age.

William Say (1768 - 1834) Mezzotint engraver of portraits and historical, genre and decorative subjects after his contemporaries and Old Master Painters. Born near Norwich, he came to London at the age of Twenty and was apprenticed to J. Ward. In 1807 he was appointed engraver to the Duke of York.
