A skilfully rendered view of Breton fisherfolk around their daily catch on a French beach, by the well listed artist William Henry Harriott. The painting is beautifully presented in a washline mount and gilt frame. Signed on the reverse.On wove.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration but the overall appearance is very good.

Artist Biography

William Henry Harriot was a watercolourist and friend of renowned painter John Sell Cotman. He even permitted Cotman to trace his drawings for use in his own work. Harriott toured in Europe most years and exhibited 1811-37 - examples of his work in Bridport Art Gallery.
