A wonderful example of work by the acclaimed British artist Walter Duncan ARWS. Here the artist has depicted two young women labouring at harvest time. Executed with a delicate and subtle hand, the light washes of colour have been masterfully applied to the substrate.With touches of white gouache. Wonderfully presented in a washline mount and gilt frame. Small biography attached to the reverse of the frame with a stamp for the 'Richard Iles Gallery'. Signed and dated. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and very light foxing. Overall in good condition.

Artist Biography
Walter Duncan was born in Hampstead London in 1848; the son of Edward Duncan, a watercolour painter of some talent. He studied art at the British Museum and the Heatherley School of Fine Art and served a seven-year apprenticeship at the Royal Academy of Arts. In 1874, he was elected an Associate of the Royal Watercolour Society. He died in 1932 in Richmond, London.
