DescriptionA fine and vivid landscape view of various trees at Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire, England, by the artist Roy Alexander Kraty OBE (1909-2002). The artist has used a range of techniques in order to depict the charming foliage accurately, with fading light giving the impression of dusk on a calm day. The composition of the trees draws the eyes inwards, focussing on the beautifully arranged gardens and the figures in the background. Signed to the lower right and presented in a well kept gilt effect wooden frame with fine detailing, as shown. Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On canvas board.
In fine condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

Roy Alexander Kraty OBE (1909-2002) was a self-taught painter, mainly of detailed landscapes and townscapes in oil, born in Bournemouth, Hampshire. Encouraged by his artist and curator cousin Dorothy King, he showed early artistic promise, after schooling in Ilford, Essex. Within 25 years of retirement, Kraty sold some 1,400 pictures to buyers in Britain and extensively abroad. In 1968 he was awarded an OBE and he died in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
