An atmospheric and evocative coastal view, with stormy clouds and a sailor working on their boat. Painted with a mixture of gouache, gum Arabic and mixed media. Painted on thick wove paper and within a mount and wooden cream painted frame. Signed with monogram.


There are a few tiny spots of surface dirt which are very minor.

Provenance: purchased directly from Oliver Hall's grandson. The collection includes works by Oliver Hall, his son Claude Muncaster, and another grandson, Richard P. Lannowe Hall MBE.

Artist Biography

Richard Lannowe Hall is the grandson of artist Oliver Hall and nephew of Claude Muncaster. He has been widely exhibited as a marine artist and resides in Cornwall, where he paints many of his coastal views. His life as a yachtsman also influences his seascapes, shown through the beautifully captures shifting light and forms. His works are usually painted with a mixture of gouache, gum Arabic and mixed media.
