Reverend C.E. Leighton Thomson - Original 1975 Oil. View of the Zäsenberg Peaks at Unterergrindelwaldgletscher, Switzerland. Inscribed with date, location and artist on the reverse. Presented in a wooden cream and gold painted frame. Inscribed on the reverse.On canvas. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some minor discolouration and spots of surface dirt, but generally the appearance is good. Inspection under UV light shows no signs of restoration. Frame has some minor surface dirt and small scuffs. The Reverend Leighton Thomson, TD, FRGS, was born in South China. His father was American and his mother English. His first schooling was in British Columbia and he was educated at Shrewsbury School and Pembroke College, Oxford, where he took an honours degree in geography. As a young clergyman he served as Assistant Chaplain in Alexandria, Egypt for three years until 1950 when he returned to serve at Chelsea Old Church for 42 years. He left his book “The Rebuilding of Chelsea Old Church” published in 1992. Leighton was an active committee member of the Egypt Diocesan Association (EDA)Size
