Patricia Lomax (b.1934) - Signed Contemporary Oil, Abstract Shells
DescriptionA very fine expressionist composition by the British artist Patricia Lomax. Much of her work is derived from the landscape around her, and this vivid composition is inspired by object collected around the coast. The expressive brushstrokes and bold, strong marks Lomax has used draws the eye to numerous areas of interest. The contrast between the flat blue section of paint contrasts wonderfully with the imposing background. Patricia's work has been influenced by the tumultuous decades through which she has lived, "filtered through the lens of a cheerful and optimistic nature". It is clear to see within this work how Lomax is drawn to strong colours and contemporary style. Signed on the reverse. On canvas on stretchers.
There are a number of surface scratches to the surface of the canvas and a small indentation to the centre of the canvas at the upper area.
