Dated and monogrammed in the bottom right-hand corner.

Inscribed on the reverse.

Well presented in a gilded and molded wood frame with a double mount.

On Canvasboard.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography

Osmund Pittman was a painter born in Islington, London, the son of an accountant. He studied at the South Kensington Schools 1891-94 and exhibited at Connell & Sons, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, International Society of Sculptors, Painters & Gravers, Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Ridley Art Club, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and at the Walker Art Gallery. During World War I, he served as a Medical Orderly with the French Red Cross. Examples of his work are held in the collections of Museums Sheffield and the National Trust. The 1911 census records him living in Leeds but his death was recorded in Ealing, London.
