Collection Information
John Niall Hennessy, was born at Cashel, Tipperary, Ireland in 1941, and studied at Ringwood Grammar School 1960-1966, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Art/Art Studies. He was an art teacher and art technician at West Suffolk College and has now retired. His main medium is print, in particular screenprint, with his subject matter from the striking visual effects created by the light in East Anglia and the water meadows around Sudbury, Suffolk which are an ever-changing resource for trying to capture the nuances of shadow and colour. His work features in private collections, including the House of Lords. Most of his printmaking is made at the Gainsborough's House Print Workshop in Sudbury, with small edition print runs, normally five or ten. As Niall Hennessy, he exhibited from 88 Queens Road, Sudbury, Suffolk at the 'Visions of Sudbury' at St Peter's Church in 2009, a screen print 'The Old Sudbury Boot Shop' and in 2013 a screen print 'Hollow Way near Borley'.
