Mireille Hanchar - Fine Mid 20th Century Oil, Teapot and Fruit on a Tea Towel
A very fine and handsome French impressionist still life by the artist Mireille Hanchar, depicting a brown earthenware teapot, an orange and several shallots on a linen tea towel. This French artist, while unknown, has a clear and well-developed proficiency in the medium, with an impressive handling of paint and carefully placed brushwork. Her balanced sense of composition and form has both clarity and a playful sense of impressionistic realism.
Currently presented in a light grey painted wooden slip, as shown. Inscribed to the reverse by the artist, with her name and address reading '43 Rue A Dideriou - St Gilles -'. Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On canvas on stretchers.
In good condition overall, for a picture of this age. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There are two very small holes in the canvas, near the upper and lower edge. These cannot be seen when the painting is against a wall. The wooden slip has some light scuffing.
