Mike Higgs - Original 1970s Watercolour. Painted on card and fixed in a white card mount. This is the original ink & watercolour artwork for "Dopey Dinosaur & The Dragon'. Inscribed on a label affixed to the reverse. Unsigned. In fine condition.

Mike Higgs is the artist of the successful strip 'The Cloak', that appeared in the Oddhams Press weekly Pow! (1967-68) and Smash! (1968-69). He drew 'Space School' for Whizzer & Chips, 'Thundercap' for Buster, and for amateur publications like Ka-Pow and Unicorn ('Tales from a Distant Star', 'The Barbarian'). Higgs also created the daily strip 'Moonbird' for various Associated Newspapers titles, and later in a series of children's books. Higgs eventually moved on to design books for among others Hawk Books, including the reprints of Eagle 'Dan Dare' pages, 'Comics at War', 'The Comic Art of Charlie Chaplin', 'Popeye: the 60th Anniversary Collection' and 'The Monster Society of Evil'.
