M Arridge - Original Mid 20th Century Watercolour. With pen and ink. Signed and inscribed. Some foxing as shown in photos.

Margaret (Peggy) Irene Chadwick Arridge HRMS NS FSBA was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire in 1921. She emigrated with her parents to South Africa in 1937 and has since lived in Johannesburg, where she teaches art privately. Having won the Royal Drawing Society’s Silver Medal aged 17, she studies miniature painting under Violet Butler and was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Engravers in 1949. Peggy returned to London to study art between 1950 and 1954, both at the Chelsea College of Art and privately under Bernard Adams, RP, ROI, NS. She has exhibited at the Paris Salon and annually in London at the major societies, including the Royal Academy. She held several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in South Africa. In 1981 she was awarded third prize at the International Artists in Watercolour Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. Peggy was elected an Associate Member of the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers in 1985 (she is now a member) and a Founder Member of the Society of Botanical Artists.
