A charming and bright watercolour landscape by the artist Louis Mortimer (fl.1900-1930), depicting a large castle beside a meandering river, within a valley. Well-presented in a washline mount and gilt wooden frame, as shown. Signed. On wove.


In very good condition for a picture of this age. There is some very minor surface discolouration. The frame has only very minor marks and is in very good condition overall.

Artist Biography

Louis Mortimer (fl.1900-1930), also known as Lewis Mortimer, was a painter and illustrator. He painted pictures along the south coast from Dorset to Cornwall. Although his work appears regularly at auction little is known of his career as an exhibiting artist.
