Lady Charlotte Lindsay - Original 1823 Pen and Ink Drawing. A pen and ink and sepia wash depiction of Venice taken from an album by Lady Charlotte Lindsay that depicts Italian and German landscapes between 1822 and 1823. Drawn on wove and stuck to backing paper. Location inscribed to lower edge of backing paper. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing.Lady Charlotte Lindsay was the sister of the Earl of Guilford. She was brought up Wroxton Abbey, Oxfordshire. Wroxton Abbey was built in the 17th century on the remains of a 13th century abbey. It was long the home of the Lords North - later Earls of Guilford.Size

Collection Information
From a series of albums belonging to Lady Charlotte Lindsay (1773-1849) dated around early 19th century. They comprise English, French and Italian landscapes, including sketches from continental tours of 1809, 1814, 1821, 1823 and 1825/6, many inscribed. English subjects in the albums include Wroxton Abbey, Broughton Castle, Old Gatehouse, Great Malvern, and Beauport.
