Born in East Anglia, Julie Brett (1939-2010) trained at the Colchester School of Art. She moved to Cornwall in the 1980's, opening a gallery with her husband, Colin. Later, they set up their home and Julie’s studio in two granite barns perched high above the tidal reaches of the River Fowey. A keen admirer of the Newlyn School, Julie particularly loved the pastel work of Elizabeth Adela Forbes.
