Artist Biography

Juan Sevilla Saez was born in La Roda, Albacete, Spain, in 1922. After moving to Valencia with his family, Saez enrolled in the San Carlos School of Fine Art.

In 1949, the artist moved to Palma de Mallorca, where he worked on seascapes and, later, exhibited at the ‘Círculo de Bellas Artes de Palma’. In the 1950’s Saez further developed his art practice in Paris and in the United Kingdom, where he held several exhibitions.

Sevilla Saez was a notable watercolourist and landscape artist, as well as a great illustrator. He received several distinctions, such as the ‘Medalla de la Exposición Iberoamericana’ and the ‘Grand Prix Internacionale de Deauville’. His work has been collected by both private individuals and international institutions. Saez died in Paris in 2018.
