A wonderful Scottish rural landscape depicting a single horse ploughing a field with a farmer, by the well-listed artist John Hamilton Glass (fl.1890-1925). Well-presented in a card mount and light wood frame. Signed. On watercolour paper.


In very good condition, with only little discolouration. The frame has some light wear to the edges.

Artist Biography

Scottish artist John Hamilton Glass SSA ARSA (fl.1890-1925) was known mainly as a watercolourist of landscape, coastal and harbour scenes. His style reflects the progressive and innovative movement of art occurring in Scotland at the end of the 19th century. He painted mostly in Scotland and Holland, living in Musselburgh and often working along the east coast. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy and Glasgow Institute of Fine Art.
