James Vivien de Fleury (1847-1902) - Late 19th Century Watercolour, El Paradiso

Item Sold

A very fine watercolour garden scene by the artist James Vivien de Fleury (1847-1902), depicting a mother and child walking down stone steps with a parasol, amongst foliage. Precise and meticulous brushwork is typical in the work of de Fleury, as well as the picturesque qualities of light. Inscribed with the title to the lower right, and signed to the lower left. On wove laid to thick card.

In good condition for a picture of this age. There is some surface discolouration and mount burn to the edges, as shown. There is a tiny loss to the wove at the lower edge.

35.1 x 24.8cm (13.8" x 9.8")
Sheet: 37.8 x 27.7cm (14.9" x 10.9")
