J. M - 1872 Watercolour, Norham Castle

An impressively sized Victorian watercolour view of Norham castle, viewed from the River Tweed. Cattle drink in the shallows of the river while brooding storm clouds swirl dramatically over the castle. The artist has inscribed the location to the lower left and initialed and dated faintly to the lower right corner. The painting has been presented in a gilt frame with card mount. On wove.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are areas of abrasion and slight tearing to the paper at the left side and there is some debris trapped behind the glazing. The frame has some scuffing and denting.

38 x 57cm (15" x 22.4")
Framed Size: 63.5 x 81cm (25" x 31.9")
