A charming miniature gouache study showing a couple embracing before an ornately decorated doorway. Inscribed. On laid.


There are a number of condition issues including discolouration across the page, foxing and creasing to the edges. With a 2 cm tear to the right edge and a large partially repaired tear to the upper edge. There are also a number of minor losses to all four edges of the page.

This beautiful collection of Indian miniatures was probably taken from original manuscripts. The subjects vary from landscape and hunting scenes to ornate court interiors. The delicate and intricate brushwork has been expertly applied to the substrate with touches of ornate gold paint.
