A charming miniature gouache study probably taken from a larger book of illustrations, showing a pair of figures holding drinks vessels aloft. Inscribed. On laid.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are two losses to the lower right area of the page and a minor losses to all four corners. With a foxing spot to the upper edge and an area of restoration with in-painting to the lower left of the painting

This beautiful collection of Indian miniatures was probably taken from original manuscripts. The subjects vary from landscape and hunting scenes to ornate court interiors. The delicate and intricate brushwork has been expertly applied to the substrate with touches of ornate gold paint.
