An intriguing portrait of Charles Philippe of France in 1780. Charles would go on to become the king of France in 1824.
An inscription underneath the painting reads 'Charles Philippe of France, brother of the King.'
The painting is housed within a washline which holds an indiscernible coat of arms at its top, and the Royal Standard of France emblem at the bottom.
The artwork is well presented in a gilded wood frame.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is light foxing. The frame has some scuffs and wear.
