Description

A delicate watercolour painting by the artist Herbert Moxon Cook. The scene depicts ;Kilchurn Castle, a ruined structure on a rocky peninsula at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Signed and dated to the lower right-hand corner. Location and artist's name inscribed to the reverse. Well-presented in a washline card mount and in an ornate gilt effect frame. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light mount burn to the margins. Some trapped dirt to the mount and small marks and scratches on the frame.

Artist Biography

Herbert Moxon Cook (1844-1928/29) ; was a painter, born in Manchester. He exhibited at the RA, RHA, RBA, RSA, RCamA, RI, ROI, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and many of the leading London and provincial galleries of the time. His death was recorded in Hulme, Manchester.
