An atmospheric pastoral scene depicting a farmer and his plough horses working in the Cheshire fields, by the well listed artist Henry Rollet. Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On board.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration as shown. Some wear to the edges of the board which would be covered when framed. Inspection under UV light shows no signs of restoration.

Artist Biography

Henry Rollet exhibited in West Jirby, Cheshire in 1886; Wallasey in 1887; Ludlow in 1889; Liscard in 1892, Birkenhead in 1919 and the Walker Gallery, Liverpool. Listed in 'The Dictionary of British Artists' by J. Johnson and A. Greutzner.
